Two people displaced, four pets dead after Chesterfield house fire

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people are displaced and four pets are dead after a home was destroyed in a Sunday morning house fire in Chesterfield County.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, crews with Chesterfield Fire and EMS were dispatched to the 1100 block of Blossomwood Road for a reported structure fire after receiving several 911 calls.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found the home fully engulfed in flames. A spokesperson with the fire department said crews marked the scene as under control in about 45 minutes.

Two people were displaced and four pets died due to the house fire, with the family being assisted by the Red Cross, according to Chesterfield Fire and EMS.

Officials said there are no reported injuries as of the time of reporting, but one dog and two cats are still missing. They added, "The house suffered significant damage and is uninhabitable."

Crews are still on scene investigating what caused the fire.
