Two women shot on Mechanicsville Turnpike, police investigating

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Two women were shot on Mechanicsville Turnpike in Richmond on Sunday.

At around 9:54 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1900 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for report of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman who had been shot multiple times. Police said she was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening.

While on scene, officers were advised that Henrico Police had found another woman who was shot in the 2300 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike.

According to police, the victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Officials said detectives determined that the two victims were shot in the 1900 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike and that these incidents are related.
