Virginia airports receive over $600K for improvements

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine have announced$620,060 in federal grant funding will go towards infrastructure upgrades at Virginia airports.

The grants will go towards the following three airports:

  • Emporia-Greensville Regional Airport -- $109,000 will help fund the construction of a T-hanger for aircraft storage
  • Hampton Roads Executive Airport -- $226,500 will go toward expanding an existing fuel farm by adding two fuel tanks with self-service pumps
  • Suffolk Executive Airport -- $285,000 will assist the construction of an aircraft hanger

The funding will be awarded through the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration Airport Infrastructure Grant program for fiscal year 2026.

“This investment in Virginia airports will help open doors for travelers and businesses across the Commonwealth,” said the senators in a joint statement. “We’re proud to announce funding that improves our infrastructure and passenger experience, and helps train Virginia’s next generation of pilots.”
