Virginia sees 325 crashes since start of winter storm: VSP

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police are reminding drivers to be cautious on the roads as troopers have responded to 325 crashes across the commonwealth amid the second winter storm of the year.

As of 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, police reported 34 injuries and three deaths out of the total 325 crashes since the storm began on Friday, Jan. 30. One of the fatal crashes happened in Dinwiddie County and was not believed to be storm-related, per officials.

The remaining two fatal crashes were in Greensville County and Fauquier County.

Central Virginia saw 33 crashes in total, including three with injuries. Between 10 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m. Sunday, 28 crashes were reported across Virginia, with two in Central Virginia.

Though not all crashes have been confirmed to be storm-related, Virginia State Police said drivers should remain cautious and stay off affected roadways in areas impacted by wintry weather.

Last weekend, Virginia State Police reported 506 crashes on the state’s roadways during and in the aftermath of the dangerous snow and ice storm.
