Virginia War Memorial previews upcoming Memorial Day event

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from the Virginia War Memorial on Tuesday for a preview of their upcoming Memorial Day event to honor fallen veterans.

8News anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall were joined by Suzanne Feigley, Multimedia Services Manager for the Virginia War Memorial, as she discussed what people can expect at the event.

"It's the 69th Commonwealth's Memorial Day service, we will have guest speakers, patriotic music," Feigley said. "At the end of the program, different organizations are allowed to come, register and lay wreaths at the base of memory in our shrine the 20th Century."

The ceremony will be held on Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m., at the Virginia War Memorial located at 621 S. Belvidere Street.

People can also register for the Say Their Names Marathon, beginning shortly after the ceremony, where residents read out the names of around 12,000 Virginians who have been killed in action. Click here to learn more and sign up for a slot.
