Virginia’s average price for regular gasoline increases to $3.25, AAA says
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The average price of regular gasoline in Virginia has increased to $3.25, as of Saturday, data from AAA shows.
As of Saturday, March 7, the average price for regular gasoline has risen to $3.25 per gallon, reflecting an increase of roughly 15 cents since Thursday, March 6, according to AAA.
Virginia's average price for regular gasoline was $2.81 a week earlier, up 44 cents, as of Saturday, according to AAA.
The city of Richmond area is paying more for gas than the state's average, according to AAA's data, which shows that Richmonders are paying $3.36 per gallon of regular gasoline, as of Saturday.
AAA's national average for regular gasoline currently stands at about $3.41, as of Saturday, though Virginia's average price for regular gasoline still falls short by about 16 cents.
This comes as experts say that tensions in the Middle East are playing a role in the rising gas prices.
Since Monday, March 2, AAA spokesperson Morgan Dean said the state average has increased by more than a dime.
