VMI Corps, Liberty University to march in inauguration of Donald Trump

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Corps of Cadets and the Liberty University Spirit of the Mountain Marching Band are both set to march in the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump happening this Monday. According to a release from the institute, the Corps were selected "out of a record number of applicants" to march in the Presidential Inaugural Parade for Trump that will take place on Monday, Jan. 20. The Liberty University Spirit of the Mountain Marching Band also announced separately on their official Facebook page that they have accepted an invitation to perform in the parade as well. This is the 16th inauguration that the Corps have marched in, according to the institute, the first being President William Howard Taft's swearing-in back in 1909. They also marched in Trump's first inauguration back in 2017. "This event will be a milestone moment for their cadetship," said Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins '85, superintendent "It's truly an honor and a testament to the professionalism and service of the Corps of Cadets to be selected for this historic day."
