Winsome Earle-Sears receives support from President Trump in gubernatorial campaign

VIRGINIA (WAVY) - Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears has received support from President Donald Trump in her campaign for Virginia Governor, according to a post from Earle-Sears on X.

Trump was set to speak with the press on Air Force One when he was asked if he would endorse Earle-Spears.

"I think the Republican candidate(Earle-Sears) is very good and she should win because the Democratic candidate(Abigail Spanberger) is a disaster," said President Trump.

The president mentioned that although he is not too involved in Virginia, he believed Spanberger could not answer "the most basic question." Trump also mentioned energy costs would be lower under Republican leadership.

Breaking down the Virginia governor’s debate

"Both of the Democrats(Virginia and New Jersey) are going to drive the energy prices through the roof. Your energy is going to double and triple," said Trump. "If the Republican gets elected your energy is going to be coming down by 70, 80 percent."

A spokesperson for Spanberger shared a statement following Trump's claims regarding energy.

As Governor, Abigail’s number one priority will be saving Virginians money — and unlike her opponent, Abigail will never be afraid to stand up to chaos coming out of Washington.”
