1 injured after road rage shooting at New Kent Crossing Shopping Center
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person was injured after a shooting in New Kent on Sunday afternoon.
At around 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, officers with the New Kent County Sheriff's Office responded to the New Kent Crossing Shopping Center, located at 2589 New Kent Highway.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower portion of his body. Police said the victim transported himself to the hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.
Police said they believe the incident was a road rage shooting and not a random act.
One suspect involved in the shooting has been detained. Police said there's no threat to the community at this time.
Officers continue to investigate the incident. No other information is available at this time.
