14-year-old found in possession of handgun at Meadowbrook High School, prompting lockdown
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 14-year-old boy was found in possession of a handgun after police said he displayed it to another student on school property at Meadowbrook High School. According to Chesterfield Police, in the morning of Friday, Oct. 11, a student at Meadowbrook High School called their parent and reported that another student had shown them a gun. Police said when the suspect showed the other student the gun, they were on school property, but outside of the school building. The parent then called school administrators and the school was placed on lockdown. Officers located the student who was shown the gun and began investigating. Other responding officers saw two people in the area of the school, one of which matched the description of the suspect who displayed the gun. According to police, officers then detained those individuals, one of which was a 14-year-old boy who was identified as the person who displayed the gun. Police found him in possession of a handgun. No one was reported injured in the incident. According to police, charges are pending for the 14-year-old boy. This comes a week and 3 days after a 17-year-old student was stabbed at Meadowbrook High School on Tuesday, Oct. 1, after which a 14-year-old and two 15-year-old students were charged. Police have not confirmed any connection between the two incidents.
