ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 15-year-old boy is facing charges after dozens of shots were fired in Charlottesville and a stolen vehicle was crashed in Albemarle County on Labor Day.

At about 10:22 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, officers with the Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) were patrolling in the 1000 block of 1st Street South when they heard gunshots.

A total of 49 cartridge casings were later collected from the area, according to a press release from the Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD).

When initially investigating the gunshots, the officers witnessed a vehicle fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. This vehicle was reported stolen earlier on Monday out of Albemarle County.
