15-year-old girl shot, killed in Richmond’s Northside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 15-year-old girl is dead after she was shot in Richmond's Northside on Wednesday.

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1100 block of North 1st Street for the report of a person shot.

When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old girl outside of a residence with a gunshot wound.

She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

Police have detained a person who was with the teenage girl at the time of the shooting. She reportedly knew this person.

"Detectives are not looking for other involved individuals at this time," a police spokesperson said.

However, the spokesperson did not confirm whether or not that person is believed to be a suspect or if they are facing any charges at this time.
