CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Bluegrass Jam is coming back to Chesterfield County for the 15th year to raise money for military veterans and their families.

The event will be held on May 2 at American Legion Post 354 in the Midlothian area from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Organizers said in a social post that the family-friendly event will feature:

  • 20 bluegrass and Americana bands playing on multiple stages
  • Local food trucks and craft beverage vendors
  • A family activity area
  • Open jam areas and an instrument check station for event-goers looking to make some music of their own

Proceeds will go to Liberation Veteran Services, which provides housing and care for veterans in need, and the Richmond Fisher House, which provides temporary housing for the families of veterans undergoing medical treatment. The Richmond Bluegrass Jam has raised over $294,000 in the last 14 years, according to the event's website.

While admission is free, donations are encouraged.

Parking will be available at nearby James River High School, 3700 James River Rd., with free shuttles running all day.
