18-year-old dies in hospital one week after Henrico shooting
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An 18-year-old who was shot on Witchduck Court last week has died in the hospital.
According to Henrico County Police, an investigation is ongoing into what they are now considering a homicide, following the death of 18-year-old Jamarion Smith.
Police said that officers responded to the 400 block of Witchduck Court at 2:19 p.m. on Friday, April 25 for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found Smith with a gunshot wound.
First responders gave Smith immediate medical attention and Henrico Fire took Smith to a local hospital with injuries that were considered life-threatening.

Smith died as a result of his injuries a week later on Friday, May 2.
The initial investigation suggests that "an altercation between a number of people" took place "which resulted in gunfire," according to police.
Officials said that two people were detained at the scene of the initial incident, but were later released.
