19-year-old Guatemalan man arrested after hitting security gate at Capital One in Goochland
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 19-year-old Guatemalan man was arrested after authorities say he crashed his car into the Capital One campus in Goochland County on Wednesday.
At about 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, Goochland County Sheriff's Office deputies received a call for a reported crash at Capital One West Creek, located at 15000 Capital One Drive.
When first responders arrived, they found a silver Honda van hit the security gate at the corporate campus.
The van caught fire, and Goochland County Fire and Rescue began to extinguish the vehicle.
According to the sheriff's office, a Hispanic male was seen running away toward a wooded area. he was found a short time later in a vehicle exiting the area.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Rony Tomas, of Guatemala was arrested. He has been served felony charges for possession of a controlled substance and hit and run, as well as misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, refusal of breath or blood test and false identification to law enforcement.
Tomas is being held at the Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond. His next scheduled court appearance is at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at the Goochland County General District Court.
Additional charges are pending, according to the sheriff's office.
