19-year-old man sought after shooting, killing 20-year-old along I-85 in Mecklenburg

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 19-year-old man who shot and killed a 20-year-old man along Interstate 85 in Mecklenburg County on Thursday is being sought by police and is believed to be armed and dangerous.
At 3:47 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, Virginia State Police troopers were notified of a shooting along I-85 northbound at mile marker 5 in Mecklenburg.
Troopers found a Honda Civic that had gone off the right side of the road and stopped in a culvert.
The driver -- 20-year-old Hunter Bates -- was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.
On Friday, Aug. 29, the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Appomattox Field Office, said they identified the suspect in the deadly shooting as 19-year-old Jason Allen Glidewell II of Bracey.
Glidewell, pictured below, is described as a white man, who stands at about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

Officers are still searching for Glidewell, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. State police have warrants out for two charges: second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Glidewell is believed to have ties to Richmond and Henrico, and police believe he drove a silver 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche with Virginia license registration number TFN 1004.
A female passenger was transported to an area hospital but was later released.
