2 arrested after Richmond-area vape shops, other locations raided for marijuana
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people are facing charges after Central Virginia authorities raided four vape shops, multiple homes and a storage facility to crack down on marijuana distribution.
In the past few months, the Hanover County Sheriff's Office has been investigating the possible illegal sale of marijuana related to a vape shop within the county.
On Thursday, Nov. 20, Hanover deputies participated in raids on eight total locations related to this investigation in the Richmond area. This included four vape shops, three residences and one storage facility.
The list of locations where search warrants were served is as follows:
- Clay's Market, 10300 block of Leadbetter Road in Hanover
- Clay Express Mart, 800 block of Clay Street in Richmond
- Clay Market, 1300 block of W. Main Street in Richmond
- Clay Mart Vapes, 1200 block of W. Broad Street in Richmond
- Residence #1, 2800 block of Braidwood Road in Richmond
- Residence #2, 2700 block of Grantwood Road in Richmond
- Residence #3, 8300 block of Forest Hill Avenue in Chesterfield County
- Storage Facility, 1300 block of W. Main Street in Richmond

Additionally, five vehicles were also searched.
Marijuana and U.S. currency were reportedly seized during these searches -- though authorities did not specify how much of either was found.
As a result, two 33-year-old men -- one from Richmond, and another from Chesterfield County -- were arrested.
Both were charged with distribution of marijuana, while the Richmond man was also charged with distribution of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. Further charges are pending, authorities said.
The two suspects are currently being held at Paumunkey Regional Jail.
