21-year-old man killed in shooting on I-95 in Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police is investigating after a 21-year-old man was shot and killed on Interstate 95 in Richmond on Monday. At 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, troopers responded to a reported crash involving multiple vehicles on I-95 southbound near the Maury Street exit in Richmond. When troopers arrived on the scene, they found a 2021 Ford Escape crashed against the guardrail. The Ford -- driven by 21-year-old Kevin James Irvin Jr. -- was found with multiple bullet holes in the driver's side door, according to state police. Irvin had been hit multiple times and he was taken to a hospital where he later died due to his injuries. Four additional vehicles had then collided while attempting to avoid hitting the Ford. No one involved in the four-vehicle crash was seriously injured. Police said witnesses who were at the scene reported seeing a dark-colored sedan. Virginia State Police is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 804-750-8758.
