27-year-old Chesapeake man killed in crash on I-95 South in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 27-year-old man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 South in Prince George County Wednesday morning.

The crash took place at around 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, along I-95 southbound near the South Crater Road exit, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

Authorities said a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on the interstate when it ran off the roadway and hit a tree.

According to police, the driver, identified as 27-year-old Joshua Abram Frye of Chesapeake, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He died at the scene from his injuries.

No further information was available at the time of reporting. Police continue to investigate the crash.

As of 12:37 p.m., the southbound right lane in the area of the crash is closed as first responders work to clear the scene, per VDOT. Traffic is backed up about two miles.

Traffic was marked clear around 2:20 p.m.
