34-year-old identified as missing man found in Appomattox River

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 34-year-old has been identified as the man who went missing earlier this month, and whose body was later found in the Appomattox River.

On Wednesday, July 9 at 11:44 a.m., officers with the Chesterfield Police Department were called to the 21000 block of Chesterfield Avenue after the discovery of a body in the river by members of the Chesterfield Fire Department.

This call came after officers had been in the same area on the evening of Tuesday, July 8 for the report of a man who reportedly fell into the water and had not been found, according to police.

As of the time of reporting, the investigation has identified 34-year-old Jose Ulloa as the man who fell into the water on July 8 and whose body was found on July 9.

Ulloa's body was found just weeks before another body was pulled from the Appomattox River on July 21. Police have not yet released the identity of the second body.

Neither incident was confirmed by police to be connected.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251.
