39-year-old man dies following shooting in Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 39-year-old man died following a shooting in Richmond's Southside Tuesday evening.

At 11:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1700 block of Southlawn Avenue for the report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found 39-year-old Clayton Wyatt of Richmond lying down with a gunshot wound. Police said he was taken to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries.

Officials said the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
