42-year-old woman killed in 2-vehicle crash in Prince Edward

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 42-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Prince Edward County on Wednesday evening due to a wrong-way driver.

At about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, Virginia State Police troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Piney Grove Road, less than a half a mile west of Prince Edward Highway, in Prince Edward County.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows a 2002 Saturn Vue, driven by 55-year-old James Allen, of Farmville, was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway when it hit a 2013 Infiniti G37, driven by 23-year-old Bre’ana Sealey, of Rice, head-on.

Police said the front-seat passenger in the Saturn, identified as 42-year-old Bridgette Bowen, of Rice, died due to her injuries at the scene.

She was not wearing a seat belt, according to police.

Allen was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, while Sealey was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
