68th Festival of Arts at Richmond’s Dogwood Dell to kick off in June

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The 68th Festival of Arts will kick off at Richmond's Dogwood Dell in June, bringing a summer of free outdoor performances.

Dogwood Dell is a 2,400-seat amphitheater located at 600 S. Arthur Ashe Boulevard in Richmond's Byrd Park.

The following is a full list of performances and festivities held as part of the months-long festival:

June

  • June 6: JayWhit and the Fellas: A Tribute to D'Angelo at 8 p.m.
  • June 14: Multicultural Fest at 1 p.m.
  • June 20: Jubilation in June: Legacy Band at 8 p.m.
  • June 28: The KOS Band at 8 p.m.

July

  • July 4: The Big Show: Full Spectrum, Virginia Opera, Richmond Concert Band, fireworks at 5:30 p.m.
  • July 13: 15th Annual Gospel Fest with The Belle at 5 p.m.
  • July 14: SPARC presents Nickelodeon's The Spongebob Musical: Youth Edition at 6 p.m.
  • July 19: Plunky and Oneness -- Plunky Day in RVA at 8 p.m.

August

  • Aug. 8 through Aug. 10 and Aug. 15 through Aug. 117: Once on This Island (theater) at 8 p.m.
  • Aug. 23: RVA Pro Wrestling Feat. Shagg Carpet at 8 p.m.
  • Aug. 30: Yes And! presents Cover to Cover: Jill Scott 826+ at 8 p.m.

September

  • Sept. 5: Unheard-of Practices 5 Feat. Rattlemouth, Starr Foster Dance, Richmond Urban Dance and Concert Ballet of Virginia at 8 p.m.
  • Sept. 6: Suggesting Rhythm at 8 p.m.
  • Sept. 12: Kia Bennett with special guest Cecily at 8 p.m.

October

  • Oct. 18: An Evening of Prince -- A Tribute feat. Anthony Cosby, Jr. at 8 p.m.
  • Oct. 26: James River Film Society presents Silent Music Revival: "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (1920) -- live musical score by Miramar at 8 p.m.
