69-year-old man dead from injuries in Henrico house fire last month

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 69-year-old man has died from his injuries after a house fire that occurred in Henrico last month.

On Saturday, March 7, the Fire Marshal’s Office for Henrico’s Division of Fire announced that a 69-year-old man had died due to his injuries from a house fire that occurred on Feb. 12.

At around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, crews with Henrico County Division of Fire responded to the 8900 block of Strath Road near Kingslands Road for the report of a residential fire.

Two people, including a 4-year-old child, were taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for injuries.

Officials reported that 69-year-old Charles Chavis died on Tuesday, March 3, due to the injuries he sustained from the fire.

Henrico Varina District officials determined that the fire was accidental and was from a space heater.
