70-year-old identified as woman hit by vehicle in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 70-year-old has been identified as the woman who was hit by a vehicle in Henrico County early Friday morning.

The woman who died after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Broad Street and John Rolfe Parkway was identified as 70-year-old Sharon Oakley of Henrico County on Friday, June 6, according to the Henrico County Police Division.

Officers were called to the intersection of Broad Street and John Rolfe Parkway at around 4:50 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle.

When officers arrived, police said they found a woman with "obvious signs of trauma," and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a Toyota RAV4 was traveling on W. Broad Street when the vehicle hit Oakley, who was reportedly stopped in the middle of the road.

Police said that Oakley was then hit by a tractor-trailer, which was also traveling east.

"The drivers of both vehicles remained on scene and are cooperating with the investigation," Henrico Police said.

Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, however, the pedestrian wearing dark-colored clothing was a factor, according to officials.

Anyone with further information regarding this crash is asked to contact Crash Team Investigator C. Jones at 804-501-5000.
