73-year-old man dead after house fire in Richmond’s Southside
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 73-year-old man is dead after officials said a house fire occurred along Schutte Avenue in Richmond's Southside Tuesday morning.
At around 3:42 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, a caller reported a house fire in the 5000 block of Schutte Avenue.
According to Richmond Fire and EMS, firefighters arrived at the scene in under five minutes to find a blaze on the front side of the home.
Responders found a man dead inside the home and pulled him out.

8News spoke to a man at the scene who said he is the brother of the victim, who he identified as 73-year-old Roger Wayne Pritchard.
The victim's brother, Douglas, told 8News that Pritchard lived in the home alone for around 20 years.
Officials added that one firefighter had a minor injury during the response, but will be okay.
Richmond Fire and EMS continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
