82-year-old killed in Orange County crash

ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An 82-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Orange County on Wednesday. Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 on Spotswood Trail near Magnolia Road in Orange County. According to state police, a 2013 Ford E-150 was traveling east on Spotswood Trail when it crossed a double solid yellow centerline and collided head-on with a westbound 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Officials said the impact of the crash caused the tractor-trailer to run off the roadway and collide with a fence. The driver of the Ford, identified as 82-year-old Arthur Stern of Orange died at the scene. According to authorities, he was wearing a seatbelt. According to state police, the driver of the tractor-trailer, a 51-year-old man from Orleans, Ontario, was not injured in the crash. He was also wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
