Albemarle County appoints new County Attorney

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Albemarle County has announced Andy Herrick as its newly appointed County Attorney. According to Albemarle County, Herrick will assume the role after his service as Interim County Attorney on Feb. 1. "We are delighted to appoint Andy Herrick as our County Attorney," said Albemarle County Board of Supervisors Chair Jim Andrews. "Mr. Herrick’s extensive experience, thoughtful leadership, and dedication to Albemarle County make him the ideal choice to solidify the leadership of the County Attorney’s Office and position it for future success." As the County Attorney, Herrick will be leading the operations for the County Attorney's Office, provide legal counseling to the Board of Supervisors, as well as represent the whole county in legal matters. “I am deeply honored to be entrusted with this role,” Herrick said. “It has been a privilege to work with the Board of Supervisors, our talented staff, dedicated colleagues, and an engaged community. I look forward to leading the County Attorney’s Office as we continue to support the County’s mission and navigate opportunities ahead.” Herrick will bring more than 30 years of legal experience with him -- which includes 26 years working in public service in local government. As Deputy County Attorney, Herrick has experience working in the Community Development, Finance and Social Services departments. In addition, he is the President of the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia. Before his service in Albemarle County, Herrick served as James City County's Assistant County Attorney. Herrick received his undergraduate degree, law degree and Master of Business Administration from the College of William & Mary.
