Person displaced after fire destroys Chesterfield garage

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person has been displaced after a fire destroyed their garage early Monday morning.

At 1:10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, Chesterfield Fire and EMS were called to the 1700 block of Rockcrest Road and Buford Road for a reported house fire.

According to Chesterfield Fire and EMS, when crews arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the garage.

According to officials, although the damage was contained to the garage and they were able to get the fire under control in 30 minutes, everything in the garage was destroyed, and that resident is now displaced.

There are no reported injuries at this time and the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
