Albert Hill Middle School in Richmond to dismiss early due to low water pressure
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Albert Hill Middle School will dismiss early on Tuesday after reports of low water pressure following a boil advisory issued by the City of Richmond for several neighborhoods.
Richmond Public Schools (RPS) announced that Albert Hill Middle would be dismissing early on Tuesday, May 27 due to low water pressure. They also said that water pressure "remains steady" at the majority of other Richmond schools.
As a result, all other schools will have a regular dismissal and after-school schedule on Tuesday. An operational update will be provided by RPS on Tuesday afternoon regarding the plan for Wednesday.
Additionally, the water fountains at schools will be covered. RPS said that all lunches were made prior to the advisory.
This announcement comes after the City of Richmond released a boil water advisory at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday for multiple neighborhoods due to clogged filters that resulted in a decrease in water production.
The boil advisory was issued hours after the city sent out a separate release stating that the initial issues were "resolved quickly' and 'no advisory was necessary.'
The Richmond water treatment plant has experienced several other issues throughout 2025, including the Richmond area water crisis in early January and a fluoride level spike in April.
