All lanes at Richmond section of I-95 North were closed, truck driver injured in single-vehicle crash

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — All lanes at a section of Interstate 95 North in Richmond were closed on Wednesday after a truck driver was injured in a single-vehicle crash.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) first reported the crash around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, near Hermitage Road at mile marker 80 in Richmond.

According to the Virginia State Police, the single-vehicle crash happened at 1:02 p.m. and involved a landscaping truck.

A preliminary investigation reveals the truck, which was hauling two oversized tree stumps, hit the Lakeside Avenue overpass and overturned.

They were taken to VCU Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police.

Troopers said an additional vehicle was damaged after hitting roadway debris.

By 3:32 p.m., the scene was reported clear and all lanes were reopened to traffic, with the detour being lifted, according to the department.

This crash remains under investigation. No further details about the crash are available as of the time of reporting.
