SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Five people were shot in Spotsylvania County on Tuesday evening.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said two people were taken to the hospital and three other people died after being shot in the Olde Greenwich Circle at around 5:30 p.m. on April 8.
As of Tuesday night, SCSO said it did not know the extent of the injuries or the victims' ages. Investigators were also working to learn how many suspects were involved.
"Multiple investigators are still there trying to determine who the suspects were and what the motive is," SCSO Maj. Elizabeth Scott said during a news conference.
One witness recounted to DC News Now the moments the shots were fired.
"I heard like 10 or 15 single shots," the witness said. "Then it stopped again for five seconds, and it started again."
