Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority hosts fraud prevention event for seniors

CHARLES CITY, Va. (WRIC) -- Tomorrow Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will be hosting an event aimed at helping seniors to avoid fraud.

The event will be held Monday, May 19 at the Charles City Social Center at 12:30 p.m., and will feature an appearance by Charles City County Sheriff's Office, Major Kenton Givens.

According to a Facebook post from the county sheriff's office, the event is designed specifically for seniors and how they can protect themselves from common scams.

Givens will later share safety tips as well as strategies through an on screen presentation.

Here are a few things that attendees can expect:

• Expert guidance from local sheriff's office
• Take home handouts
• A Q&A opportunity with law enforcement professionals
