Another fire breaks out at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center in Chesterfield
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a correctional center in Chesterfield County on Sunday night.
At around 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, Virginia State Police responded to Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center in Chesterfield County for the report of a fire.
When troopers arrived on scene, the fire had been reportedly put out by staff and there were no injuries.
According to state police, the responding trooper was advised that the correctional center would handle the investigation.
This comes after an incident took place at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center on Sunday, Feb. 9, where 11 residents in a unit became "unruly and noncompliant," leading staff members to seek additional help.
During this incident, Chesterfield County Fire and EMS responded to the report of a fire within the same unit, which state police said was "quickly extinguished."
This incident followed a similar call for fire around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6. A spokesperson with Chesterfield Fire said that the agency responded to nine fire calls and 11 fire alarm activations at the facility in 2024.
