Another water main breaks in Henrico amid ongoing water crisis

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County is dealing with yet another water main break Thursday evening -- the second one of the day and one of multiple in the past week. At about 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, the Henrico County Police Division announced that it was at the scene of a water main break at the intersection of Staples Mill Road and Thalbro Street. Staples Mill Road is closed in both directions as crews with the Department of Public Utilities work to mitigate the break and restore the road. What happened at Richmond’s water treatment plant, causing widespread water crisis? "It is likely that this will affect the morning commute tomorrow and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes," police said. This is the second water main break that Henrico has dealt with Thursday, with the first one happening on Monument Avenue near Bremo Road. It's also one of multiple water main breaks in the county in the last six days -- all while the county is facing the effects of the ongoing Richmond-area water crisis.
