Armed robbery, shots fired at two Prince George convenience stores

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Newport News man was arrested following an armed robbery and shots fired at two neighboring convenience stores in Prince George.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Friday, March 7, Prince George County Police responded to multiple reports of an armed robbery and shots fired at the Dixie Mart convenience store, located at 12500 S. Crater Rd.

Soon after the first reports, another call came in. According to police, that caller claimed that the same person went to the Rams Café -- located at 12600 S. Crater Rd. -- and fired his gun into the convenience store.

When officers arrived, they arrested 40-year-old Damiane Sloan of Newport News. According to police, those officers saw that Sloan was armed and discovered that he had fired multiple rounds at both store locations. No one was hit by the gunfire at either location.

However, police confirmed that the suspect had minor injuries he'd received before the incidents. He was medically evaluated at Southside Medical Center.

Sloan now faces the following charges in Prince George County:

  • One count of having a firearm as a convicted felon
  • Two counts of felony vandalism
  • Two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling
  • Two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Two counts of brandishing a firearm
