Ashland to detour traffic on England Street for waterline project
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The town of Ashland will temporarily close a portion of England Street for waterline improvements next week.
Starting Monday, July 21, through Friday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., part of England Street between Maple Street and Railroad Avenue will be temporarily closed to conduct necessary waterline improvement work.
According to the release from the town of Ashland, the improvement work is a part of the ongoing England Street Streetscape Project, aiming to enhance infrastructure and beautification in coordination with Hanover County Department of Public Utilities.
Detour signs will be in place to help guide drivers through the closure zone, however, businesses on England Street will be available at all times through the detour route. Pedestrian access will still available.
Detour routes for trucks:
- Westbound: Trucks will be diverted south on Route 1 to westbound Ashcake Road to Elmont Road/Medical Drive and back onto England Street.
- Eastbound: Trucks will be diverted to Medical Drive/Elmont Road, then eastbound to Ashcake Road -- once in Ashland, trucks will travel north on Route 1 and re-enter England Street.
