Babysitter arrested on charges of sexual assault involving child in his care in Albemarle

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A babysitter was arrested on Friday after an alleged sexual assault involving a child in his care in Albemarle County.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, officers with the Albemarle Police Department after receiving a report that a child had allegedly been assaulted the day prior while in the care of a babysitter.

The next day, on Friday, Dec. 5, police arrested and charged 24-year-old Maxwell H. Mandell, of Crozet, with felony aggravated sexual battery and felony indecent liberties with a child.

Mandell is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims since Mandell was offering babysitting services and music lessons.
