RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A new exhibition, "Bodies of Labor: Hands That Built a Nation," will open at Richmond's Black History Museum and Cultural Center on Wednesday.

According to the museum, the exhibition opens on Wednesday, May 7, and explores the personhood of African Americans and labor.

"This remarkable showcase will depict, through each artist’s lens, a unique perspective of African Americans and labor over the 400+ years of inhabiting this continent," the museum said.

The exhibition features works by painters, sculptors, photographers, illustrators, traditional printmakers, fabric artists, and glass and wood artisans.

The museum said that it will host community conversations, discussions with artists and children's workshops in conjunction with the exhibition.

Folks can view the exhibit at the museum -- located at 122 W. Leigh St. -- between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays.

The exhibition will reportedly be on display through Saturday, May 31.
