Boil water advisory lifted for portions of New Kent’s Five Lakes region
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The boil water advisory for portions of New Kent County's Five Lakes region on Wednesday has been lifted, according to New Kent County.
New Kent County officials announced just before 4:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, that the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) had officially lifted the boil water advisory for certain Five Lakes residents in the county. The Nov. 19 boil water advisory came after a water main break.
According to the county, the advisory was lifted after two consecutive samples came back negative for coliform bacteria, passing the necessary tests.
The county said the samples must be collected a minimum of 16 hours apart, and turnaround on test results is at least 24 hours.
The first sample was collected the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 19, following a main water line break repair by New Kent Public Utilities crews. The second sample was collected on Thursday, Nov. 20.
Officials confirmed to 8News earlier in the week that there have been no reports of a loss of water pressure or a loss of water.
