British indie rock band Glass Animals lights up the stage at Richmond’s Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The June heat is here, but it hasn’t stopped music fans from enjoying outdoor shows in Richmond this month.
One of those was the Glass Animals concert at the Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront on Wednesday, June 11.
“Sometimes all I think about is you, late nights in the middle of June, heat waves been faking me out,” Glass Animals frontman Dave Bayley sang.
Thousands of fans were packed in the venue, from the lawn to the pit, singing and dancing as the British indie rock band played.

Music lovers filled the pit in front of the stage wearing pineapple sunglasses, trading friendship bracelets and handing out buttons.
The stage was futuristic with a slight outer space theme, and the show was full of guitar solos, colorful lights and laser beams. The setlist included songs from 2014 to 2025, including an encore where they played “Tokyo Drifting” and “Heat Waves.”
Bayley asked the crowd if anyone was there the last time they played the Richmond area, which was back in September 2022 at Virginia Credit Union LIVE!
“I recognize a few people from last time,” he said to the crowd.
At one point, he took a fan’s disposable camera from the front row and snapped a picture, surely one they’ll never forget.
Bayley also handed out a pineapple from the stage to a 10-year-old celebrating their birthday before singing “Pork Soda,” which starts off with the lyrics, “I’ve got pineapples in my head,”.
And at another point, he hopped off the stage and went towards the back of the venue by the lawn, and sang a song on an elevated surface.
Before the end of the show, Bayley said the band would be back in Richmond again, but they have to make more music first.
