Buckingham man dies after he was found shot in head inside crashed truck
BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A week after he was found shot in the head inside a crashed truck, a 45-year-old Buckingham County man has died in the hospital.
Just before 1 p.m. on Monday, May 12, deputies with the Buckingham County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 2300 block of Pattie Road for the report of a shooting.
When they got there, deputies found a truck that had crashed in the nearby woods, with 45-year-old Scott Randall of the Dillwyn area inside. He had been shot in the head.
Randall was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A week later, on Monday, May 19, he died as a result of those injuries.
Authorities previously arrested 41-year-old Vincent Rose in connection with the shooting and, as of Thursday, May 23, he remains in custody at the Piedmont Regional Jail without bond.
The sheriff's office did not specify Rose's exact charges. However, court records available as of the time of reporting indicate that Rose is facing the following four charges:
- Felony malicious assault
- Felony malicious shooting at a vehicle
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Possessing a firearm as a convicted nonviolent felon
It's possible these charges may change following Randall's death. 8News will share any updates as they come in.
