Business at Chesterfield recycling plant to be interrupted for several days after fire

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Officials say business at a recycling plant in Chesterfield County will be interrupted for several days after a fire on Saturday. At 7:44 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews responded to a call for a fire at a recycling plant in the 12200 block of Old Stage Road. According to officials, the first firefighters that arrived on scene found a large pile of recyclables burning at one end of the building and heavy smoke throughout the facility. Crews were able to get the fire under control in an hour, and it was contained to the area where it started, according to authorities. Officials said there were no reported injuries, however, the fire will interrupt business at the facility for several days. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
