Caroline County woman arrested for DUI twice in over a month

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- During a routine traffic stop, the Caroline County Sheriff's Office arrested a Ruther Glen woman for reckless driving and driving under the influence.

On Friday, March 14, a sheriff deputy encountered a woman that was suspected of reckless driving around the Lake Land'Or and Ladysmith areas of Caroline County.

According to the sheriff's department, this arrest comes after multiple reports from citizens and social media regarding a female driver in a white sedan that had been witnessed speeding, driving on the opposite side of the road and endangering other drivers. Several citizens shared partial license plate information to help Deputy Cocho locate the suspect.

While the deputy was conducting a separate traffic stop, a woman approached the deputy and the individuals pulled in the traffic stop -- leaving her car parked in the middle of the road with the driver's door open. The woman offered the individuals a ride, even with their statements that they didn't need a ride nor did they know her.

The sheriff's department said Deputy Cocho was immediately aware of signs of impairment in the woman, which included slurred speech and a shaky balance.

After a short investigation, the deputy arrested 38-year-old Tina Tyrell of Ruther Glen for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol -- with a blood alcohol level of .15.

A deeper investigation revealed that Tyrell was arrested over a month ago by Caroline County deputies for DUI with a blood alcohol level of .20 and came out on a bond for that charge.

Currently, Tyrell is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail without a bond and pending court proceedings.
