Cause of Chesterfield house fire undetermined due to ‘extent of the damage’
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Officials say the cause of a fire that destroyed a Chesterfield home and seriously injured two people on Monday is currently undetermined because of the "extent of the damage."
Firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were called to a home in the 21200 block of Genito Road at around 6:15 p.m. on Monday, May 19 for the report of a house fire.
Although everyone inside the home made it out, an adult and a child took themselves to the hospital with serious injuries. Additionally, eight residents have been displaced due to the fire.

As of Tuesday, May 20, Chesterfield Fire and EMS reported that the cause of the fire is undetermined as a result of "the extent of the damage."
Officials also revealed that firefighters responded to a fire at this residence on April 23, which was caused by a candle.
