Central Virginia to receive $148 million for infrastructure improvements
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Central Virginia is set to receive nearly $148 million for infrastructure improvements, according to transportation officials.
On Friday, Feb. 27, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA) approved $147,964,457 over the next six years to improve local bicycle and pedestrian, transit, bridge, multimodal and highway infrastructure.
The decision stems from an eight-month process that began with project applications in the summer of 2025 and comes after applications submitted by CVTA member localities and public input.
The public hearing followed a 15-day public comment period during which residents, stakeholders and local organizations were invited to submit feedback on the proposed project funding, according to a release.
