Charles City County receives $150K to modernize 911 services

CHARLES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Charles City County received a $150,000 grant from the Commonwealth to modernize the communications center earlier in July.

According to a release shared by the Charles City County Sheriff's Office, the Virginia 911 Services Board awarded $150,000 in grant money to the county to update the communications center and other aspects that fall "within the realm of what's allowable by the grant."

Funding for this grant award became available to the county starting on Tuesday, July 1, and payment will be made on a reimbursement basis only for allowable costs, per a release.

The sheriff's office said it is a "100% funded grant and the county is not required to match any of their funds.
