Chess and Strategy Game Expo coming to Henrico County
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico County Public Schools Family and Community Engagement Department is partnering with the Gifted Programs Department to host a Chess Expo Event for K-12 students. The event will be held at the Oak Avenue Complex -- 15 South Oak Avenue in Highland Springs -- from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The event will feature Mike Hoffpauir, president of the Virginia Scholastic Chess Association, as a keynote speaker and students will be able to learn bout division competitions for strategy games, how to start a chess club and even how to play the game as a beginner. There will be opportunities to play and watch chess, game and book giveaways and dinner will be provided. Shuttles will be provided from Fairfield Middle School and George Moody Middle School.
