Chesterfield County to celebrate completed construction at Ettrick Landing
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 17, to mark the completion of its latest housing project at Ettrick Landing.
The project was completed in partnership with Maggie Walker Community Land Trust, Project: HOMES and Ettrick residents to create Virginia's first subdivision of homes developed and managed by a community land trust.
"Ettrick Landing is creating affordable home ownership opportunities in the southern Chesterfield village of Ettrick," according to a Nov. 4 press release from Chesterfield County.
The area will include 10 one-story single-family homes with three bedrooms, in addition to two and a half bathrooms, ranging from 1,300 to 1,700 square feet.
The residences were constructed by Project: HOMES, and are "affordable to households earning approximately 65% of Chesterfield’s area median income." Nine of the homes have already been sold and are currently occupied.
The subdivision was developed on what was previously known as Dupuy Elementary, which now serves as Ettrick Elementary School.
"In 2020, Chesterfield deemed the vacant structure to be beyond repair, demolished it and conveyed ownership of the property to Maggie Walker Community Land Trust, which initiated discussions with the Concerned Citizens of Ettrick about what could potentially be built on the site," the release reads.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Ettrick Landing on Nov. 17.
