Chesterfield County to host “National Night Out” event aimed at community safety
CHESTEFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The annual National Night Out (NNO) event, "America's Night Out Against Crime" is coming back to Chesterfield County, Tuesday Aug. 5.
On Aug. 5 residents across the nation and here in Central Virginia, will lock their doors, turn on the lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police for the NNO.
According to Chesterfield County, the police community engagement event is aimed at:
- Heightening crime and drug prevention awarness
- To generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts
- To strengthen neighborhood spirits
- To send a message to criminals that: neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
